Problem
The current belts were only lasting 6 months due to stretching and slipping when the direct-on-line motor started. The existing belts were not capable of transmitting these instantaneous peak loads of over 400kW. Constant maintenance was required to retension and align the drives.

Solution Description
Belt = 10 x SPC4000P Predator® V-belts
DriveR Pulley = 10/SPC425
DriveN Pulley = 10/SPC1000

Predator Belt Cutaway

Benefits of Gates Product

The Predator® belts have successfully operated on the drive for 10 months so far with no need for retension. There is no slippage on startup as the Kevlar® cords inside the Predator® belts hold their tension.

As an added bonus, the noise generated by the drive has dropped 2-3 dB(A) after the installation of the Predator® belts.
