New Drive Challenge
High efficiency was needed to keep power/operating costs as low as possible.
The new drive required a higher than normal speed ratio, a V-belt drive was not considered suitable. A V-belt drive also requires over 200mm width, adding extra and unnecessary load to the bearings
Solution Description
Belt = 14MGT-4326-90 Poly Chain® GT™ Carbon™
DriveR Sprocket = 36 tooth
DriveN Sprockets = 192 tooth
Belt Width = 90mm

The Poly Chain® GT™ Carbon™ drive offers up to 99% efficiency. At best, V-belts typically reach 97% efficiency.
The 90mm wide belt is much more compact than an equivalent V-belt option keeping the loads close to bearings.
After 18 months of ongoing use, no maintenance or downtime has been required, delivering higher productivity for the plant.
